{"id":1486,"date":"2020-04-30T10:20:56","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T09:20:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cool-banzai.185-132-38-6.plesk.page\/?p=1486"},"modified":"2020-04-30T10:20:59","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T09:20:59","slug":"digitally-kist-artists-artisan-producers-and-craft-makers-go-online-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cool-banzai.185-132-38-6.plesk.page\/?p=1486","title":{"rendered":"Digitally Kist \u2013 Artists, Artisan Producers And Craft Makers Go Online This Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thirty artisan food and drink producers, artists and craft makers from Dumfries &amp; Galloway, and beyond, will take part in this weekend\u2019s annual Spring Kist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Normally held in Wigtown\u2019s magnificent County Buildings, Covid-19 restrictions have meant that it is having to migrate to the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plus side is that people can enjoy this very special online showcase no matter where they are in the world. They will be able to meet the makers and producers, take virtual tours, see demonstrations and order anything that takes their fancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Claire Nash, Manager of Wigtown Festival Company which has organised the event, said: \u201cWe were disappointed not to be able to hold the Spring Kist in its usual format, but really wanted to show our support for the local businesses that usually take part.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAn online showcase seemed the&nbsp;obvious way to go and we are delighted that so many businesses were enthusiastic about taking part.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMaking the event digital will be a new experience for The Kist and the exhibitors \u2013 we look forward to welcoming virtual visitors from all over the world and it\u2019s something we hope to build on in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spring Kist takes place on&nbsp;<strong>2 and 3 May from 10am to 4pm<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 see the Facebook page at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheKistWigtown\">www.facebook.com\/TheKistWigtown<\/a>&nbsp;for full details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the digital Kist participants will be The Galloway Fudge Company, KGR Glass Design, natural yarn producers Quirky Paintbrush, Copeland Walker Art, Solway Silver, Machars Memories photographers and Drakelaw Pottery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They will be joined by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Jam Garden \u2013 fruit growers and makers of luxury small batch jams and preserves<\/li><li>Toadstool Tots \u2013 designers and makers of bespoke, traditional-style children\u2019s and baby clothes<\/li><li>Farm Boy Brews \u2013 purveyors of superb coffee that does some good in the world&nbsp;<\/li><li>Ninefold Distillery \u2013 producers of premium handmade Scottish rum<\/li><li>Hare and Boathouse Creations \u2013 handmade&nbsp;bags, purses and accessories including fabrics such as Harris Tweed.<\/li><li>Linda Irving \u2013 a felt artist who uses fibre to create wonderful land and seascapes inspired by the Mull of Galloway.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others taking part are&nbsp;Bine Designs,&nbsp;Puffin Patchworks,&nbsp;The Butterfly and Toadstool,&nbsp;Roo Waterhouse Art,&nbsp;Scottish Art Scapes,&nbsp;Emily&#8217;s Designs,&nbsp;The&nbsp;Wee Shade Shop,&nbsp;Five Kingdoms Brewery,&nbsp;Co Co Co,&nbsp;KB &amp; Co.,&nbsp;Keepsakes by KT,&nbsp;Fountain Stone,&nbsp;Lambleys,&nbsp;Selkirk Distillers,&nbsp;Shabby &amp; Pretty,&nbsp;Life is a Beach 33 and Little Dot Creations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Adrian Turpin, Wigtown Festival Company Artistic Director, added:<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cAt this time it&#8217;s more important than ever to be supporting local and small businesses, many of whom are facing immense challenges.
